WHAT IS ENGLISH CAMP?

English Camp is an event conducted outside the classroom which encourage the students to learn English through games and other activities using English.
Our camp is located in SMKN 3 Soppeng area and it is opened for students from the other schools around Soppeng Regency. This event is held by English Corner as a part students organization of SMKN 3 Soppeng and supported by Australia Indonesia Youth Association (AIYA). This event involves the native English speakers as the speaker or instructor who communicate with the students in English the whole day. We use two languages to speak – Indonesian and English (an international language).
We have the committee who are always ready to help the participants.This means that there is always the possibility to ask one of the committee whenever they have problem during the program. Of course, there will also be new friends and campmates to help as well. That’s why the participants do not have to be afraid of misunderstanding or miscommunication. At the same time they take part in various activities and are compelled to be in continuous contact with the English language. On the other hand they are not forced to use only English. It’s up to them how they get on with the language. Moreover, they may get their experience to communicate with the native speakers and to communicate in English without feeling reluctant to speak with different language.
